About Us

Henley Pre-School is a committee-run charity, rated 'good' by Ofsted (October 2022).

Charity number : 1028129

At Henley Pre-school, we cater for the individual needs of our children and ensure equal opportunities through carefully planned activities to help them develop and progress in all areas of learning.

These are:

  • Personal

  • Social & emotional

  • Physical

  • Communication & language

  • Literature

  • Mathematics

  • Understanding the world, and

  • Expressive arts & design

The purpose of the Pre-school is to encourage children to learn through play by discovering, creating and having fun.

Our philosophy is to engage the children in our care in age-appropriate activities that they will, not only enjoy and learn from, but also give them the opportunity to challenge themselves and progress.

Parent and carers make a crucial difference to their children's outcomes. As Early Years Educators, we recognise this commitment and work with parents at all times.

Our latest Ofsted inspection report is on display, along with our policies, at our pre-school. The report is also available online at www.ofsted.gov.uk

At Henley Pre-school we operate a 'Key Person system'.

Each Child is allocated a Key Person when they join us. The Key Person is responsible for keeping up-to-date development records (in the form of an on-line Learning Journey) for each child.

These records cover all areas of development through the Birth to five matters: Non-statutory guidance for the  Early Year's Foundation Stage which carries children through to the end of reception year.

Parents have access to Tapestry, an easy-to-use online learning journal. It is a fantastic way for the staff and parents/carers to record, track and celebrate their child/children's progress in early years education. Each term we do an end of term development and summary report.

Parents are kept regularly informed of their child's progress throughout the year . We  hold regular parent and child together sessions and offer end of term parents' evening.
